Discernment vs. Disconnection: How We Lose Ourselves to Stay Connected
I used to think discernment meant cutting people off.
Now I think discernment is asking a different question:
What is this dynamic producing in me?
Do I benefit from it? Lean in.
Do I lose myself in it? Lean out.
Self-betrayal doesn’t always start when someone hurts you. Sometimes it starts the moment you disconnect from yourself to stay connected to someone else.
Burnout Might Not Be Your Problem
Most people think they're burned out.
They're exhausted. Overwhelmed. Resentful. Running on empty.
And while burnout is real, I've started asking a different question:
What if burnout isn't the problem?
What if burnout is the symptom?
For many women, burnout is what happens after months—or even years—of self-betrayal.
Self-betrayal isn't always dramatic. It's staying longer than you know you should. It's saying yes when your body is screaming no. It's ignoring your needs, silencing your voice, and repeatedly choosing everyone else at your own expense.
